Nishiki Competition II

Hello fellow cyclists!

I recently acquired a red Nishiki Competition II bicycle from a friend of mine. I had a full service tune up done on it by 718cyclery in Parkslope Brooklyn and also had a new chain put on the bike. I have since been commuting to and from work on the bike and loving every moment of it. This is my first bicycle as an adult living on my own. I am just curious what this bike might be worth I plan to post some nice pictures of it later today. The bike is a 10 speed, with a chromemoly frame. Very narrow wheels and tires I believe they are 23's any idea of the value of the bike?

Thanks!

I added the fenders and rack which can obviously be removed.

My guess is that is a $250 bike in NYC money. But it's just a guesstimate based on that 1 picture. 718 usually does a good job working on bikes, so I am assuming it doesn't need anything.

Thanks for the reply! It certainly does not need anything it rides great! I've certainly put more into it than $250 but I assume that doesnt really factor into what I could get for it

Msybe you might just get a little bit more money for it if you present it as less of a "touring" or "town" bike but a sport/racing bike as the name "Competition" implies. Presentation/appearance if a big part of getting the most out of selling a bike and when one will see a "Competition" bike with a rack on it, it sends mixed messages which will not attract both race bike or touring bike fans as much as you might be able to. You can still sell the racks with the bike as an extra on the side (uninstalled) by just mentioning it in your ad or auction.

I mean that this is a hot market and things go for more here than elsewhere.

You will never get as much for it as you put into it--especially since you paid someone else to work on it. That's a bummer, I know, but that's how it is.
