Bottecchia?
So this came up on craigslist but i don't know enough about them to know if it's a deal or not.
i only have one photo from the ad. The seller replied back and i got a little more info but still don't know what model

He said it has Campy Valentino Derailleurs and Universal Brakes.
Asking price is $100 and it comes with two brand new unmounted tires.
Any help with model or date would be appreciated. He says he's owned it since 1973 but i don't know if it was new then.

There is a guy here who has an extensive Bottecchia database. If you can get the serial number to him, he might help.
I have forgotten his username, but if you do a global search here under "Bottecchia" I am sure that his name will come up eventually/ He is the "bianchigirl" of Bottecchias.
Good luck.
$100 seems reasonable.

It's gas pipe. $100 is fair, and it would be fine for pedaling to the pub. But, if you're looking for a fast or particularly comfortable bike, I'd keep looking.

I'd offer $80 and hope for the best....if it's clean, I'd go a hundred. Of course, I just happen to like these for some reason, and they build up looking good, even if not the greatest performer.....they just have a kind of 'character' about them that I like.
Good Luck,
Joe

You are looking at an early to mid seventies Bottecchia Model Special, the mid range model for the Bott line-up. I have owned several of these bikes and pay no attention to the Gas Pipe nomenclature. They are very nice bicycles, offering a decent ride quality and look pretty darn good doing it.
$100? If the bike fits you and is in decent shape, no problem. Pay the man and run. You will not be sorry, in my opinion...
