Thanks for the response!

Thank you Robert, it was a stunning Ferrari Red repaint, very nice! I'll load this into my database, hope to see it ridden somewhere in a vintage event.

I have half a mind to repaint a Nuovo Record in Molteni Orange with red or other color contrasting decals. Could we upload one or two of your pics to this thread so someone would know about it in the future?

Also, did you have the serial number anywhere?

Though the bike looks great, I regret having it repainted it because I lost the chrome lugs. It also made the bike look "80s." I think the bike would have been worth more in its original condition.

I'm happy to upload a few shots. Can you show me where?

mech986 - Sounds like you may have a collection of serial numbers and photos of early- to mid-70s Super Speciales. If so, maybe you can help me put a date on my project bike. I got this Super Speciale from a friend (now passed), and am considering doing a restore. I thought he bought it new circa 1983, but obviously it has to be '77 or older, so maybe he bought it used or it was really old NOS. Believe the paint is original, in pretty bad shape. Trying to decide whether a new paint job would help or hurt the value. I can post more photos. I'm pretty sure the Nuovo Record group set is original, but the wheels are not - they are Nuovo Tip hubs, with mismatched rims, and the rear hub (126 mm) is about 5 mm too wide for the rear drop outs (~122 mm). It has chromed tips on the front forks, chrome fork crown, and chrome chain stay protector. Otherwise all canary yellow - which I'm having a hard time finding in any of the old catalog listings I've been able to find. Any clues as to age, and whether the paint could be original, etc.? I'll update post with serial number and more photos if it would help.

Hi Pilsy,

See my post about your bike in the other older Italvega thread you posted in.
