Raleigh Ti Team pro "SB648" What is it worth?
I found this bike on-line and was considering bidding on it. The paint is in bad nick but it might be worth getting it and painstakingly refurbishing it?
Here it is....
What is it worth?
Cheers!

The RTP is a highly prized bike. I have been looking for one in my size for quite a while. The Reynolds 753 frames are the rarest. This frame looks a bit rough. As with most any collectible bike it will loose value once it has had a repaint. I would say maybe $400 - $500 since it is 753.

Would you repaint it though or what?
I mean it must deteriorate pretty quickly in that state that it is in now.
Cheers for the info.

Let the new owner repaint it. It will decline in value if you do or at best only sell faster at the same price as it would as it is.
Yes, its has finish issues.
Are you going to leave it outside?

Before I would consider a repaint I would give it an OA bath and see how it turns out. It may not look too bad once that was done. You then might get a pro to do a little touch-up.

I can't get the pics to open larger so I can't see the scratches your talking about. I do agree that you won't have to worry about the bike deteriorating unless you leave it outside or commute/train in the rain and don't take care of it.

I have a later one (also with some rust issues) and love the ride. I'm guessing that's about a 75 or 76. They command a nice price in mint shape, but I wouldn't think the one pictured would go for more than $400.
