Cannondale R500 Mid 90's?

Hello all,

I am new to the forum but am in the process of getting my family involved in biking. Wife and 10 year old son have new road bikes for training and tri's. So I get the leftovers. I am pretty much new to biking as well so am searching for some help. I am thinking about picking this bike up for myself. Can you tell me if it is worth the $75 they are asking? I assume that it is but I have no idea as to the year or any of the parts...

Again, any help with identification or thoughts on whether to buy or run in the opposite direction is greatly appreciated.

Any Cannondale is worth $75. Its older than mid 1990s, but that does not matter either. If it is for sale publicly (C/L for example), it should be gone already.

Looks clean and quite worth the price. Hard to find any bike in decent shape for less than $100 and a Cannondale is a cut above most anything in that range.

Well its a great deal ... as long as it is around the size you think you need id buy it. If you hate it down the road, resell for a profit

Thanks for all of the input. I figured it was worth the price tag but wanted some confirmation from the pros. I am checking it out over lunch. Not certain if it is my size or not just yet. I am right at 6 ft and they did not give a frame measurement. They only said 32inch from the floor. We shall see. Thanks again!

Buy it anyway. Even if it doesnt fit, wait two weeks, toss it on CL and double your money easily.

+1 Finding a Cannondale road bike for $75 is quite rare, finding one that is the exact right size for $75, almost impossible. Deals on bikes that don't fit pay for bikes that do fit.

Well, I picked it up. It needs a battery for the Cateye, new handlebar tape, a new rear tube and some clean up. I plan to try and do the work myself as that seems to be part of the fun. Never done much of that before but hey worth a shot. Who knows if I will end up keeping. Maybe try to ride for a bit after fixed and then resell. LBS did recommend a taller stem as it is much lower compared to todays bikes. Wanted $50 and I passed as I wanted to try it out first. Thanks to all. Will try and post some pics once I have it all cleaned up.

If that is an R500 you will find it very responsive and reasonably light. I would have hopped all over that one. Nice snag.
