1987 Fuji Roubaix
 

So had an old bike offered today and not sure if there's room left to fix it and stay in the black.

i don't have pictures cause i'm an idiot and didn't take any. i'll get some next time i'm by there.

It's a 1987 Fuji Roubaix in great shape just dirty. It's all original except for seat post and saddle which are some cheap heavy steel something or other and a wal-mart schwinn saddle.

I know value is hard to determine without pictures but what would be a decent price point for a complete but needs restoration example of this.

His 1st number on this one was $200 seems about 75 higher than I was thinking.

Is your goal to resell or keep and ride? the Roubix was usually a very nice machine.

It's a 58 cm so resell would be the goal. But I really just enjoy the work so I want to make sure that I'm not doing the work for free.

Way out of the ballpark for a fixer upper flipper. IMHO Valite + 105 <> big $$$. One in NNJ on C/L for a couple of weeks $225, one on ebay sold with local pickup $300 (Inland Empire, CA). I've gotten $250 for a Fuji Sagres SP, which is lower on the Fuji line, but your investing $180 + $200 acquisition would be a loser for sure.

Parts as you listed can be bought for less than $100 by MO.

I would put such a bike at $200, maybe $250 tops in excellent shape. I would not try to flip this one.

1. As a flip bike? Forget it, price is too high.

2. $180 in parts and consumables? If you are going to flip bikes (even just a few), at that price you will rarely to never make any money on them. You really need to step back and start looking for ways to manage that cost. I rarely spend over $50 on parts and consumables for a flip bike, and that includes tires, tubes, cables, housing, chain, bar tape. Alloy seat posts come from the donor bin, I have a lot of them. Ditto saddles and pedals. And I use stainless cables, lined housing, SIS housing for derailleurs, etc. But I load up on consumables when they are on sale (just used up the last of the $10 Paselas I stockpiled).

my consumables cost is exaggerated i'm sure i can come out for about half of that. I need to just bite the bullet and buy some boxes of cables and housing to lower that cost. I tend to be on the cautious side when it comes to budget better to figure and need more and spend less :-)

Get a job in bike shop or find a Co-Op to help out in.

That Fuji is a nice bike and at that price would be a good rider.

What's up with all the pinks and purples on the late 80's, early 90's bikes. That color looks almost identical to the mauve Peugeot Nice I just finished; and am now under water on.
