Whats up guys... I'm new to this forum!! I've had this bike for a couple of years now... I've recently bought a new bike and was trying to let this bike go. Was wondering what a Good reasonable price would be. Thanks for the help ahead of time!

It's a nice bike, I like the PSV Vitus frames. Condition is hard to tell from that one grainy photo. Need some clean drive-side pictures and detail photos as well.

From what I can see, $200 should be no problem. Oh wait you're in the Bay Area? Probably more like $300 then if it's in nice shape and well presented.

+1 Will need a lot better pics, and drive side in particular. Could bring some nice coin, particularly in a hot market like yours. I have one myself in the project queue.

That looks like an 82/83 Peugeot PSV.
A much desired upper mid level race bike by 80's Peugeot fans, but it seems like your example has had a few of its components changed out from original.
The rear derailleur should be a Simplex model SX610
The stem should be an Atax brand quill style stem.
Brakes, shifters, front derailleur and saddle sounds original.
Does it have the original wheelset on it too?
I emphasized originality as the bike is prefered by most buyer as original as it could be. On the contrary, you will not get too much value back too if you start hanging really expensive components on it considered to be above the bike's worth. If you still have the original components from the bike. It might be worth installing them back on it to get full value.
As it is, with best condition paint/finish, your PSV might bring $275 to just below $300 max on a really good day. PSVs used to bring in $350 easy about a year and a half/two years ago, but the depressed C&V market had lowered its value in most markets, but you might be able to go over $300 as-is if you sell it in a really hot bike market like Seattle or San Francisco/bay area...which I just noticed, you turn out to be from.....so that's good news! So try to sell local if you can.....That might get shipping out of the deal (local pickup?) and the buyer might be willing to go just a bit higher on the price.

Cool bike I would say it should fetch about $300 in your market. Defiently take better pics and note state in your add the nice full chrome fork and better wheelset. Plus I would slap some bar tape it $4 online for $40 added value from experiance.

Remove the reflector from the seatpost, the bottle cage, the lock. Center the seat rails. Wrap the bars if they are bare. Clean the bike very well, it should be spotless, don't damage decals though. If the chrome fork is dull, clean it, rub it with wadded up aluminium foil. The brakes look dull, shine them a bit with metal polish. Take clear, detailed pictures, most from the drive side, show decals, driveline, any defects, plus an overall or two. With a plain, not distracting background, no shots in a messy garage, well-lit and preferably in daylight. Host the pics on a photo site (photobucket, flicker, etc) and link them in the Craigslist or eBay ad. Write the ad carefully and clearly, no typos or grammatical errors, name the components as you have done. Include year, model, seat tube size and state if that is center to center or center to top. No need for flowery sales talk, people looking for these bikes know why they are looking for them. It is a desirable model and size. The non-original rear dérailleur and rims (I doubt the PSV came with Schraeder valve clincher rims) are faults but not terrible. Hopefully you have the correct crank and drilled chainrings. In SF Bay Area I would not sell for under $300 assuming you have the crank/chainrings. I'd probably list for $400 and see what happens.

Heck, if you can't get >$300, I will buy it for that. My son will outgrow his Peugeot in a couple years and I am looking for his next bike. It would be neat to have father-and-son matching bikes. Send me the pictures you take. I'll PM you.

the reflector you're talking about on my seat post is actually my Rear Bike Light. i dont have any reflectors on my bike besides the ones on my rims. I actually dont know how to tell what kinda rims i have... any suggestions on figuring this out?

A PSV expert will have to chime in, but if the rims are clincher for Schraeder valve, as they look like (again, picture is bad), then I don't think it matters what the rims are. They are throw always and the buyer will have to spend the money for a proper wheelset. In my opinion (and only that), someone looking for a vintage Peugeot racer is not going to run those wheels.

The seat cluster looks pinched by the binder bolt. I wonder if it's got the correct diameter seatpost.

i have no idea what that means... haha but the seat post slides in and out perfectly fine. its not like i have to jam it in or try super hard to get it out.

Scoop see's a tight gap where the seat post enters the frame and is held by a bolt. your bike needs to look more finished. Wrk101 suggest moving the seat forward so post is set midway from front to back. I say raise it an inch also. Straghten the reflectors or remove them. Add pedals. It would be nice to have brake hoods. Transparent tape? Make sure your posting shows the rolls in tape so they don't think like we do. You are selling against some low end, low use, STI bikes at $350 t0 400.

Yep; that's what I meant. Usually, the slot in the back of the seat tube between the seat lug binder bolt "ears" is the same width from the top of the seat lug to the stress riser relief hole drilled at the bottom of the slot. When there's an obvious pinch at the top of the slot, it sometimes (but not always) means the wrong size (too small in diameter) seatpost has been used. This is usually true whether the lug is stamped (like the Peugeot) or investment cast (like the red bike below).

The potential problem with having too small a seat post installed is that it stresses the brazed joint where the seat stay is side tacked to the seat lug, and could eventually cause the seat stay to seat lug brazed joint to fail.

The crank is mismatched. The original Stronglight left crank arm is there, but the right (drive) side has been replaced with a non-matching part. The original drilled chainrings and Stronglight crank are an important part of that year PVSN, I think.

The rims are a mismatch too. The rear is Presta, maybe the original. The front is Schraeder, it has been replaced. Why would someone replace only the front rim? Check the fork and head tube/downtube for sign of an accident. Check if the fork looks bent.

Something odd about the front brake mounting bolt. Like it is too long or the wrong nuts are there?

These and the seat tube binder, bar tape, (no) hoods, (no) pedals (means no test ride), are things that will detract from value, people will notice them. It would be good if you address them, in order to get top dollar.

Oh, on the seatpost, it doesn't look like mine (I have same year PSVN) so it might be a replacement which would explain how it could be the wrong diameter. Sort of unusual to replace a seatpost without replacing the saddle, though.

Rims - The rims are matching but are not the orginal rims.
Tubes - i just have different tubes in each tire cause i got a flat and didnt have my spare. so i had to buy one on the spot in SF at some random store. never replaced it since its fine.
Pedals - I have pedals. They're just not installed when i took the pictures.
Brakes - mounting bolt may be too long since its not the same size as the rear.

Fork - is straight and not bent.
Crank - when i was cleaning the crank... is when i noticed that the right/left arms didn't match

Any suggestions on figuring out how to fix the seatpost situation? do you know what the orginal seatpost size should be on this bike??

Just for comparison to the investment cast seat lug on the red Paramount above, I took a photo this morning of the stamped (Nervex) seat lug on my P15-9. The seat tube is 28.6mm O.D. 531 which takes a 27.2mm seatpost. While the top is slightly pinched, it's not as pronounced as the pinch at the top of the OP's Peugeot.
