Steel, obviously, but beyond that - hard to tell. Seventies construction judging from the over the BB cable guides. It has the engraved fork crown but lacks the engraved seat stay caps and any embellishments on the BB. Lug construction is consistent with other Olmos of the period. ( https://velobase.com/Velos/ViewModel....c-8456d69e3662) You should check the outside flat of the derailleur dropout to determine if it is Campy.
It has nice geometry as did a lot of Italian bikes of the period regardless of the model or exact frame material.

Perhaps the Olmo catalogs on this page will be a help.

It won't improve its resale value beyond the obvious (fresh paint, period components, etc.) But you will have a fun project and a nice bike. Make sure it fits you well and you really like the way it performs before sinking money into it.

Nice looking bike, too bad about the little scuff and nicks everywhere. I agree if you paint it and start putting CampI parts all over it you'll never recoupe your invest ment. A good paint alone is what $300+ and then shipping too? CampI parts +$$$.$$

Yes it stinks that cosmetically it isn't perfect but is there alot of rust we can't see?

These shorter drops would suggest early '80s to me and some companies were still doing over the BB cables until '85ish

The down tube bears the celebratory decal for Gavazzi's 1978 Italian National Championship victory, so it's older than a late 1978 model while the cable routing indicates pre 1984. The era, in conjunction with the Gipemme and Nuovo Gran Sport components suggest an Aelle frame or possibly tretubi SL. To verify the tubeset, determine the seat post size (stamped on the post or measure with calipers) and check inside the bottom of the fork's steering tube for five spiral ridges. They're quite small (3.5mm wide, 0.35 mm thick) so use a strong light or feel with your fingers. Once we know the tubeset, we can determine the model.

I have an OLMO in a similar paint scheme. I was informed by the previous owner that it was a 1980 Olmo Competition? Mine has a decal saying "Competition" on one of the chain stays.

Why do I think this bike has been repainted? the scratched off top coat appears to reveal "celeste", not saying its a Bianchi with an Olmo fork, but curious. and it is lacking a full set of transfers. I think the bike appears pretty balanced right now as to its assembly.
