Bianch Axis 1988

I'm considering purchasing a 1988 Bianchi Axis. It's been re-painted and rebuilt with 3x8 Sora components. From the pictures it appears to be in good shape and set up for winter riding with fenders. Supposedly "just back from the shop", fully tuned and ready to ride. Looks to be a recent build. Seller is asking $350.00. I'm not thrilled with the components but I could eventually upgrade. Anybody familiar with that era Axis? The last late 80's steel Bianchi that I owned weighed a ton. Was the Axis a Japanese made frame or was it Italian? Any info helps!

Japanese built cyclecross model (may have been Taiwan, not sure). On the heavy side. Too bad it is a repaint, I have one, and they are attractive bikes. I have one myself.

If you are planning to eventually upgrade anyway, I would aim higher. Those Sora parts have minimal value.

My last Bianchi was a Volpe from the same era. That bike was a tank. If the components are fully functional I'd probably leave it "as is" for now. I'm looking for a 2nd road bike for winter riding.

The first Axis was in '89, but yes they were built in the orient somewhere. I agree too bad it was repainted.
