Trek 1400 Single Speed $200

I need another bike like I need a hole in the head. But, I am always interested in bikes my size, and the price is right. With that said, and I don't have a SS, I saw this on CL.. Is this a super duper deal, a super deal, or just a good deal, or not a good deal??

Thanks in advance..

Check the front fork on it, one photo may be playing tricks, then again maybe not. Another hint is the replacement front wheel. If it all checks out, it's a decent deal.

Put a 47*17 on it and ditch the singulator.

Not my cup of tea, but looks worth the asking price to me.

Owner spent some $$ turning a $350 multi-speed bike into a $200 SS. Genius.

Rear drop out doesn't appear to be the best for SS use.

Likely worth the price if everything is good and it's your size. A somewhat pointless SS conversion though these where nice basic geared road bikes as a SS it is only so-so.

After the feedback and looking again, I am passing on this. My intentions was, if it was good, to make a $150 offer. I can do better than this..

Thanks all,

It's not a terrible conversion (I have seen a LOT worse) but it does have vertical dropouts which isn't the greatest for SS/FG. For a few extra bucks you should be able to find the same bike with the original geared drivetrain. Then you can convert it to SS if you want and save the original parts.
