I'm approx 6 foot. The bike frame itself, from the top of the bar thing that stretches from the seat to the handles to the point where the pedals connect to the frame is 1 foot 8 inches (or about 51 cm).

There is not any rust, just accumulated dust and dirt.

Unfortunately, I think that bike will be too small for you.

You are around the same height as me and while you could make it work, it is probably still at least an inch too small.

But, fortunately, it is a nice and desirable bike. Where are you located? Not that I'm interested, like I said it's too small for me, but it would help to know how you can best deal with getting a bike more your size.

Oh well. I am not much of a cyclist anyhow.
Anyone have any idea about the sale value? I am in DFW area of Texas, but I would be fine with putting it up on eBay.

That bike is WAY too small for you. I'm 5' 10" with short legs and I fit a 56cm frame.

Since the frame has been repainted I think you would do much better to strip the parts and sell them separately. The Campagnolo crank with the Colnago pantographs is worth at least $150 - $175 on eBay. The roll of Campagnolo tools is also worth quite a bit!

Any other ideas on appraisal? Looking on eBay at similar items, I was hoping this sucker would be worth a fair bit more than that.

I know you are probably wanting a pretty solid number, but the best thing you can do is what you have been doing. Check Ebay for completed listings and expect to get somewhere close to it assuming you put up a similar or better ad. It also helps to have an ebay account with some credibility. I saw a 200+ dollar bike sell for 20 bucks just last week because the ad had a shady picture and poor description and the seller had 0 feedback.

With the above in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get close to $1000 with a bike that is cleaned up and ready to ride on Ebay. This means much better pictures, like outside against a solid background. There are some seriously talented people on this board and if you steal a few techniques from their pictures you could get good money for your bike.

I'd try to sell it on craigslist first if I were you because my ebay account doesn't have a lot of feedback. Again, you'll need to write a decent ad with good pictures to get anywhere near top dollar. If I found that bike in my size on craigslist and I was looking for one I'd be interested if it were around 700-800. But who's to say some one in Dallas isn't interested for $1000?

Now there should be more people chiming in to dispute my appraisal

Being unfamiliar with the component brand spellings, a repaint, and lack of detailed images will lower the final price. The extras should be sold off individually or small lots.
A few of the parts may get some interest, some little. As a strategy, sell off the parts on ebay and then list the bike.

That said, ebay is really variable. Forget the current offerings, but look at the completed items, buy it now and auctions, plenty of resprayed frames out there, and most sold at a discount due to repaint. A few repainted bikes never got a bid as the initial bid floor was too aggressive.

The size is small, this hurts a bit too. I bought one earlier this year with original paint for under $800 and it was a more desirable year. The initial bid was high and I was the only bidder.
Another element is packing safely for shipment, do some homework there, Many shops can pack a bike but not as many Well. Remember, if it arrives with damage from poor packing, you are going to have a headache. The advice above is reasonable and the pricing might go.

If I had a decent set of pics to look at tonight, I"d give it a look.

I can't get your pics big enough to get any details.

Good advice.

Thank y'all for all of the good advice! I certainly can look up correct spellings and terminology, and I have a well established eBay account.

One quick question for everyone: Should I get it fixed up myself, or sell as is? The tape is old and needs replacement, and one tire is gone and the other probably dead.
What do y'all think?

You should be able to replace the tape and tires for around $100 - $125. The more "ready to ride" it looks the better for you. People looking for a project are going to expect project prices!

Well, I don't know what you normally sell on e-bay, but I think selling bikes could be a big step.

You will have to pack the bike yourself, which means some disassembly will be required, protecting the bike with proper packing materials and buying a proper box from your bike shop to put it in. If not, you will have to pay your LBS to do it for you. You might be comfortable with all of that, but it's worth considering everything before doing this. Craigslist could be the easier route to go down, because you wouldn't have to ship.

But I agree with Kactus, do some work before selling. Also really good pics and a good description could make quite a difference, but being an e-bayer, you already know that.

Price wise, I'm thinking $700 - $900 is possible in ready-to-ride condition... Good luck whatever you do!
