Thank you For any help, this is making me a bit crazed. I hope this is the correct place to post.
Do you know what model Schwinn this is? is it schwinn, panasonic built?
Serial number is stamped on thebottom of the bottom bracket, not on the headset, or the rear axle mounts.
Serial # H8L25662. could the second letter be a "B"? No,don't think so it is pretty clear.
Suntour Honor rear derailleur.
Sunshine(?) 6 speed rear (freewheel?)
SR Stem 22.15mm/7/8 Handlebar 23.92mm 15/16 inch.
Seat Post 27.3mm
58 cm size
(front derailluer Suntour Spirt. (yep Spirt) clamp on double 28.9mm/1 1/8 inch.
Maeda Industries Japan)
Suntour rubber coated shifter on stem.
Schwinn approved brake dual action brake levers.
Schwinn approved center pull brakes.
Silstar 3 piece crankset. 170mm bolt on cranks. SR Sakar 40-52 chainrings, 5 bolt pattern.
Rear deraileur, Sunshine made in Japan rear hub, 36 spoke, UKAI RIM 27x1 1/4 made in Japan rear rim.
13-26 6 speed freewheel/ don't think cassette.
(Maybe not matching front wheel fEMCO 27x1 1/4 made in Taiwan/ Schwinn approved 10 76 or 10 78 or 10 70
(can't read well) made in Japan hub with cutout holes on the side of the hub 36 holes, might be correct because it has a washer on both sides
that has a tab that inserts into fork. fork curves forward, not chromed.)
No holes for badge.
31 LBS.

You gonna eat that?
Not sure it's a Schwinn, although the brakes & levers seem to indicate that. Could the . I don't know that I've ever seen a crankset like that on a Schwinn. I would check the low end of the Schwinn catalogs from the 1960s (after 66), 1970s and early 80s.

the serial number list would indicate 1978? H8L25662
I have looked at alot oF catologs, It seems to be close to a 1976 or 1978 le tour
but not all the specs are the same. 12 speed.
I'm conFused.
