Here's one- 9s Campy wearing carbon Trek with potentially shot frame
I've tasked myself with selling this for a friend. From what I can tell it's a 1998 2120. I have my concerns about the frame and how the corrosion has caused the clearcoat to crack and bubble at the bonds. Questionable frame aside, it's a very nice, albeit dirty, bike from a mechanical standpoint. I didn't know that Veloce had gone to 9 speed in the era of the first generation ergo, especially triple 9 speed.
I'm going to guess that the value of this bike is in the parts and because of the questionable nature of the frame. I know that 9 speed campagnolo is somewhat desired given how close to being interchangeable with 9 speed shimano it is. Am I correct that this [9 speed] campagnolo freehub can fit even the modern 11 speed cassettes?
I'm thinking the bike, as it is now, could bring $400 given the parts. How off base am I?
Some pictures of the corrosion. This bike was donated to the same friend who is trying to start up a community bike shop here in Ithaca. I am not sure when the "new" clear was glombed on over the existing, cracked clear, but it may be rather recent.

I think you might be better off selling the components seperate from the frame, either individually or a 'kit'.

If you don't part it out, the next owner will. I see potential for over $500 as a total part-out.

Market sucks right now. Parted out in the spring/summer you could possibly get $500.
The Veloce stuff, cleaned up and sold as a group with the wheels would probably be in the $400 range. Maybe more? I don't know for sure. For a reference...this Chorus 10 group is sitting on ebay at $400 shipped. Kind of baffling.
I personally wouldn't trust the frame and wouldn't feel comfortable selling it without some major disclosures / warnings.

This is exactly where I am. Especially given the fact that the proceeds go to support a program in the public eye. Maybe I'll make the cabon tubed shop stool.

FWIW, the early carbon tube/aluminum lug Treks (and also the Specialized Epics, Univega R-series etc.) are surprisingly nice rides, if a bit hefty compared to today's models.

You could always swapp the kit to a different frame.

Campy BBs aren't something everybody has kicking around, so if you can get it out I would include it with the group. Also, I know with Record and Chorus triples the spindle lengthy is unique, not sure if that's the case with Veloce but a Campy tripled BB is probably harder for a buyer to source than a double.

Definitely get the BB out. Go to a shop and have them remove it if you have to. $400 for Veloce? That surprises me. Wasn't it the bottom of the Campy line?
What a coincidence - I just tore down a 2120 with 8S Campy and the same frame failure. Same paint and everything.

FYI.
Just priced out a brand new Campy Veloce gruppo consisting of Ergos, crankset, front and rear derailleurs.
Source was Ribble.
$325.
Tops I would pay for a well used Veloce gruppo would be $150.

Might as well make this a spectator sport-
Put the group and wheels up on eBay with a $400 BIN and starting price of $250

Ribble's prices on the Veloce are remarkably low, compared to the online sources I usually check. Is there a "catch"? Exorbitant shipping, taxes, etc?

Congratulations! And you still have bar, stem, post, etc - bet you net $450 by the time you're done, with a CF stool free.

I'm already netting about $415, so $450 isn't much of a stretch. The bars/stem/post/saddle headset and fork aren't much- they might just stay in the partsbin. Probably not worth paying to ship them.
Yeah, I'm pretty happy how this one panned out. The buyer seems pretty excited to land a triple group. A+++++++ Will sell again.
