Gitane Track Bike - How old is this thing?
I bought this bicycle back in 1979, and it was pretty old back when I got it! Anyway, from these pics--anyone have an idea what year it is? Just curious...

I am not a Gitane expert but sometime between '69 -'74 I think. Try gitaneusa.com. I am pretty sure they will flip seeing this.

+1, that's looks like their boom era, entry level, track model. I believe they got rid of the foil decal for 1974, so it should be no later than 1973.

The decal says "Service Course", and yes, I'm sure it was entry level--all steel, cottered-cranks. Not all the light, but a blast to ride. Turns so quick, too--it always made my Colnago Super (with a nice road racing geometry) feel like a station wagon when I'd switch back to it...

Took your advice and heard back from Stephan this morning--his best guess is '69 or '70. He called it a "Track Standard" model, so I suspect they also offered a "Track Deluxe" verson...
