Is this biopace crank overpriced?

the biopace crank on my ironman is scratched pretty good. Is this crank fairly priced? $45 + 12$ shipping.

Yeah, that's too much. I love Biopace but it's not the crank that makes it Biopace, it's the rings. You can take any crank (with the right bolt circle) and put your rings on if they're still in good shape.

Decals are missing, pass. Especially at that price. I've bought similar 600 Ultegra tri-color cranks for less.

How bad are your cranks? You can sand them and polish, probably look fine unless they have really deep scratches.

I'd pass, too. You should be able to get cranks with decent decals for that much.

I have done this and it works great. If you have to get some cranks you can do way better for $45. A quick search on ebay I found newer Ultegra cranks with a BB for the same price.

Pass. The sandpaper route sounds promising. Definitely looking into it.

+1 on rethinking the crank you have. If the spindle tappers are good and the pedal threads are good most alloy cranks clean up real nice and it is pretty easy to find a replacement if one of the chainrings are worn. Also on the plus side you know the BB and spindle are correct. When putting on a different crank there is a very good chance you will need to change these to get everything correct.
