Old Atala
Hi everyone,
I was wondering what the re-sale value would be on this Atala I picked up. I attached the pictures to this post. Thank you.

Wow that is a good looking oldie as for value I'm just not up enough on mid 60's stuff to have a clue on this one. Except I know selling vintage parts I could get close to $300 from the basic parts.

Components on par with an early 1970's Peugeot UO-8. Given it's superior condition, even if it needs an overhaul, I'd fathom $275ish. I can't identify the saddle, but that may be worth a chunk of change on it's own.

I'm pretty sure that is a Ideale leather saddle with the original clamp so yes it worth a good chunk of change.

Thank you for the responses. It took a lot of work to get it into this condition but I think it looks great.

Your need hoods for the those Universal levers! They make a big difference. I think reproductions are available.

Woah, this is identical (except for a different color) to the Atala I sold last year. https://imgur.com/a/JK54N I think I somehow figured out that mine was a 1967.
I think the values people have posted here so far are very optimistic, though. Mine had upgraded aluminum rims, and it sat on craigslist for months at $200. I eventually got $150 out of it. If you haven't done so already, have fun adjusting that horrible Simplex front derailleur. Took me forever to get mine to shift right without knocking the chain off.

But Viperplayer may be in a wealthy western part of Connecticut. Come to think of it, there are very few low income areas in Connecticut, except for New Haven, but even there they have college students with sunburned nostrils!

the agrati bulge formed head gives me pause. have encountered several of these over the years which have failed. they just don't seem to have enough metal in the right places.
machine defintely boom era as opposed to mid-'60's as suggested.

You may have seen this one- a '75- on the "This Atala is dead, Right?" thread on the other vintage board-- it came with the same crank, shifters, alloy seatpost and stem- I was wondering about the original brakes- they were probably Universal as I'd have guessed by the hanger
I'll probably be asking less when I resell it- but it will have a nicer alloy crank and shifters- it's a re-finish.

The subject bicycle is somewhere between 1966 and 1972. The presence of the of the Prestige rear derailleur with metal reinforcing plates, if OEM, wouild place it no earlier than 1966 while the downtube logo style places it no older than 1972. I can't comment of the clainm that the serial number format is yyxxxxx, as I have not been collecting and analyzing Atala data. Some features such as the seat tube decal make me want to place it pre-boom as the top models used a banded decal with the older logo style immediately prior to 1973. Normally, a seat post clamp would have me leaning pre-boom but the based on old magazines, Atala did retain this feature though to 1972, even on the top end models.
Regardless, is an entry level model with a hi-tensile framee and steel, 27" rims. While it is in very nice condition, I'd be closer to the $150-$175 appraisals than the $275.
