Could it be an eddy?

Could it be an eddy?

Hi all

I picked up this bike in February, near Brighton in the UK (eBay).

I bought it for the group set (early 80s super record), the wheels (nisi) and cinelli bars (absolute bargain). Someone has relaced the down tube shifters with early ergo shifters (1992 era) and the rear derailleur is a more modern campy unit.

Unfortunately, the frame had some pretty bad rust issues, so I reluctantly sacrificed it to the rattle can.

The frame itself is/was very nice (campag record drop outs etc) and I would like to know the make. Beneath the rust, there are some barely legible numbers stamped below the bb, and what looks like an eddy merckx logo. I can't be sure though and have had difficulty identifying the frame.

What's unique about this frame are the gear cable guides which pass the cables above the bb, not below (you can see this in one of the pics, just).

Anyways, if anyone can help me ID this bicycle, it would be much appreciated.

I understand it was once owned by a bike mechanic in Spain....

Thanks!

You can sleep at night. Not an Eddy. Brake bridge, RD cable stop, no lugs, etc.

Any photos of this logo?

Given the possible Spanish origin and the brake mount above the bridge, it may be an Otero. The symbol was the company name in the form of a bicycle, so it did somewhat resemble the Merckx logo.
