I've recently found this bike in mum's garage and would love to know more about it. Can anyone help with the age and model?

Bill, Why wouldn't you consider this a mixte? I realize that the "top tube" does not terminate at the rear axle, but it does have a split top tube--versus a single tube that terminates at the seat tube (i.e. a step-through frame, at least in my book). Educate me.

Catlady, sorry, can't help with year or model...

I consider the salient feature of a mixte to be the 3rd set of stays, regardless of where they terminate. As such, I'd consider it a mixte.

A better picture of the derailleur and knowing the serial number may help in dating it.

While a lesser curved full step through Italian style I would still consider this bike true classic mixte late 60's or 70's Eurpean with double full length top tubes.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=316145I haven't found a serial number yet. Where might it be? It is a four speed. Decal says "made in Italy"

The fact that it is a four speed tells a lot it is late 60's Italian or French so serial numbers if found are likely meaningless. IF found look left rear or forward BB. At best you get a better look.

The rear derailleur is a Huret ECO, which if OEM, would place this late 1970s. During this period, the serial number was typically on the front collar of the upper head lug.

Hi Catlady welcome to the forums. Great looking Bianchi. Where are you and the bike? Europe somewhere?
