Schwinn World Sport

Hi again. There's another bike on CL, Schwinn World Sport 12 Speed, where the owner is asking $350. I was able to negotiate it to $275, but am still wondering if I'm getting ripped off.

http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/bik/3820888815.html

I plan on using this bike leisurely and for errands. Please advise!

Way overpriced IMHO. Worth about one half of your negotiated price.

Yes, you are getting (totally) ripped off. That's a $25 bike in Chicago.

Send the seller an email letting him know he has a decimal off.

+1 seller is delusional, sold an identical bike in perfect shape for $120 and felt lucky to get it.

Not really, no different than finding a used car, an apartment, a house, or whatever. Its just the stakes are A LOT smaller! Good chance to improve your skills as a consumer. I've made a lot of bad deals over the years, most were due to me knowing a lot less than the seller. I still make mistakes for sure, but at least I make fewer of them.

Get knowledgeable, or get taken.

Well for the OP purposes it is not the bike that is the issue these make great bikes for the casual rider. The issue is the price for a basic step through womens bike in good rideable condition $100-150 is more the reasonable price range. Also if you want stepthrough for light use consider looking at some 3speeds you can get fairly nice ones for around $100 in most markets.
