Peugeot PSN-10?

Long time lurker around here, but finally made an account to seek out some advice/appraisal input.

So I have an older (maybe 1985?) Peugeot PSN-10 that I rescued from death a couple of years ago at a pawnshop. I've put a boatload of miles on it, but I'm at a point where I'd like to either commit to ruining it and update a bunch of the parts away from the stock configuration, or sell the bike in one piece to someone else who wants to tackle really restoring it. I'd love any insight or advice on what something like this would be worth, and if it would be a sin to sell off the groupo, put new components on it, and just keep on riding it into the ground.

Two caveats:

1. It's not in great shape: The frame, fork, stem, and horrible expanding seat-post are all complete, but have seen better days. There is a fair bit of chipping, pitting, and rust all over the place, enough that you'd really have to totally repaint the bike if you were trying to get it back to OE spec and stop the rust. The campagnolo triomphe grouppo is all complete, along with the speedy modolo brakes, other than one of the down-tube shifters that had been replaced by a sun-tour bar end.

2. It's a 60cm frame, which I imagine limits the value to anyone under 6ft.

Thanks!

Haha, very true, I was going to preemptively apologize for not having them. Trying see if I have one somewhere of it assembled, she's currently totally town down so I can clean all of the parts and the frame after a fairly abusive winter.

Edit: No luck on pictures of an assembled version, but here are a few of the current state: http://imgur.com/a/0lFf6

As a fellow owner of a Super Vitus 980 frame, I wouldn't sell either. You won't be able to easily find another like it. The next year Peugeot started moving to the less expensive Reynolds 501, so it's an increasingly rare frame. I like the compliance of the frame when I'm going over rough roads, esp. on long rides. If you can, keep it as a long distance (not touring though) bike for when you are on country roads of uncertain quality...

In the best condition, these Peugeots were selling for around $350 in the hotter markets as recent as two years ago.... Because of the depressed market, they've pulling in quite a bit less lately. Something like around $275 for the best examples.......lots of rust = much less.

Thanks all-

anixi: That was my thought, it's a great Sunday long distance bike. It's pretty flexy if you try and crank at all on it, but for a long ride on rough roads, it's pretty hard to beat.

Chombi: Yeah, that's kind of what I assumed- I know if I was on the other end of a deal, I'd feel like it's not rare enough to really justify putting any real amount of cash out for anything less than a well preserved one.

Where are you located??? I WANT that bike more than i want my next breathe. I have been looking for a large Peugeot black in color for years now, and I thought I had one last week, i bought the thing, way too small. total disappointment.

ever since my first Peugeot was stolen after six months of saving for parts and bringing her back to life, she was taken from me the same day I finished her, less than an hour later. broke my heart. this is her.

I just bought this one after seeing blurry pictures of it and when i showed up my heart sank, i bought it anyway because the wheel set was worth more than what they were asking for the bike, but it crushed what was left of my little cold heart.
this is it at the bottom of my Peugeots of the years.

I live in the central valley of CA. What can we do to get your bike to me, that is if you want to sell it.

This is a Reynolds 501 frame, not the same as the OP's bike. Besides, I don't think it's kosher to beg someone to sell you their bike in this forum, is it?
