Found this little chap on craigslist and I've had a little ride around on it. It rides pretty nicely, though it seemed a little 'soggy' for lack of better words on the right foot pedal push. Not sure if that's an unstiff frame or what.

The seller seems to think it's around 82-83, which dates it after the 1978 I've seen touted as when they made the switch in design from tourer to racer leanings. Racer being what I'm after.

This one is post Shields but pre-700c, which outs it circa 1978-1980. In this case you can throw out most of those other rules of thumb you read on the internet because this a Canadian market model, which were spec'd independently and differently than the USA market. It's a recreational touring geometry. To get the racing geometry during this period, you had to step up to the Competition.
