1974 Raleigh Grand Prix- New Style for Women- Only Year Made?
]I have a 1974 woman's Raleigh Grand Prix 10 speed bike and can't seem to track down any information on the design (was new at the time-cross between a man's straight bar and a woman's V-shaped bar). It has two gear shifts on the tubing between your legs and is all original. I even have my original sales slip and serial number. Does anyone know where to get more information so I can figure out it's value? Unfortunately, I haven't any idea of what items to look for on the bike that are considered valuable
I'd appreciate any information on where to get some insight into the type of bike I have.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. The Raleigh Grand Prix was an upper, entry level model and was quite common, probably Raleigh's biggest seller. The frame style you have is called mixte. Average price for these is probably around $125-150, however the price varies substantially depending on the bicycle's condition and your local market conditions.
I suggest you post a good, overall picture (taken form the drive side), along with detail pictures of the major components (crankset, rear derailleur, brakes), so we can properly assess the cosmetic consition and determine if there are any major mechanical issues. We'll also to need to know where you live so we can adjust the price for local market conditions.

Typically these go for around $150 in good condition. Some pics would really help get a better idea of value.

If no service work has been done on the bike for 40 years, it is not worth $150, more like $80 +/-, depending on what the bike needs. Reconditioned to as new condition they can bring upwards of $200. I bought the one below for $20 without wheels, and resold it for $200 two years ago.

The bike's chain could use some oil and the tires need some air- but otherwise, it's been taken care of. I did replace the inner tube in one of the wheels but otherwise, everything's original minus a few paint scuffs from gravel diving. I'd like to post my pictures like you did but they won't load up. Any suggestions?

If you have them on a site like picasaweb, flicker, or photobucket, use the linking method, which is the 3rd icon from the right above.
