Whats my 1983 Trek 600 worth?

Hello.

I am new to the forum. I came by this website while I was researching how much my 1983 Trek 600 might be worth.

I am the original owner. The 21" bike was purchase brand new in 1983 from my LBS and is excellent to very good condition and pretty much original components except for the seat, pedals, rear gear cluster. It has been well maintained and the last tune up was in 2010 where I replaced the tires, cables, bar tape and brake hoods. That was also the last time I rode it.

Serial number is #048330. Trek lists it as a 610 but the Model/Color/ Year chart identifies it as a 600 (the color is Pewter w/ light blue panel and head tube).

Always stored inside, never crashed and never ridden in the rain (a Northern California bike). It has approx. 700 wonderful miles (Lake Tahoe, Marin Headlands, Napa, Golden Gate Bridge, Point Reyes). Paint and decals are shiny like new and there are 4 small scuff marks but they are very minor and are coated with clear lacquer to protect the steel.

I know that pictures would help and I will post as soon as I have a chance. But I was hoping that some informed person might be able to suggest a price range and how best to sell it, ship it, etc...

Thank you in advance.

I've got an 83 600, Suntour bl components. I paid $350 for it with a new Brooks B-17. Mine was in the same shape as yours, it had been hanging on the wall of a bike shop for 30 years.

If as described, I would say $400 is a reasonable price. A 620 might command $500 +, but not the 600.

Thanks Gordo Trek. It has the Suntour BL, Dia Comp brakes. Don't know what the rims are. How can you tell if it has Campy dropouts?

Yours looks like mine except for the nice red paint. Hopefully I can get a better price that the deal you got. Thanks for sharing.

The name will be stamped on the dropouts; you can also check the vintage trek catalogs online that will have the specs: https://www.vintage-trek.com/TrekBrochures.htm I picked up a 1983 Trek 600 for $175 from CL for my daughter:

I think $350-$400 is reasonable assuming good condition.

I have one of these as well, but I bought it as a framset only. I paid $100 for just the frameset, if that helps you at all.
