Trek Carbon Tube Mountain Bike
Ok everyone, I saw this beauty at my LBS and instantly fell in love. Problem is, so did the owner it seems. He was more into the bullseye hubs laced to Mavic wheels, which didn't do all that much for me, I love the frame and overall look of the bike. He kept the wheels, and installed new double wall trek wheels (black) and is now asking $400. Would I be taking it in the pants to take it home? I thought he was gonna make an offer in the two to thee hundred range but i guess not. I would really love to add it to the collection, but don't wanna do something stupid to do so. What do you guys think?? Also, anyone know the model and approx. year??

Why aren't there decals on the tubes?
On top of the ambitious price from the shop owner, something's off in that bike's history.

I'm guessing it's an 8700 from 1991 - that's the closest color match (conch) I could find on the vintage trek website.

You will be taking it in the pants. If it still had the Bullseye hubs, maybe, as nice Bullseye hub set can bring $150 to $200.
I've seen some great deals in the Quad cities, and picked up a couple of them. This one is a big pass.
