Detel Marathon 6000 - Gold or Lead?
Hello Forum World,
Just picked up a Detel Marathon 6000 for $50 and interested in how much it is really worth. I know these bikes are pretty rare, with the company only in business for 2 years, but I am not sure if its a dynamite find or just another 80's 10-speed beater. Bike is in perfect condition and fully ridable.

Constant tinkerer
+100 we need pictures.
Although since gold and lead weigh virtually the same, maybe we don't need pics...

Detel was a small company from WI circa 1985. Brent Emery (of Olympic cycling fame) was the plant manager. The investors pulled out soon after operations started, so not many bikes were made.
There were only two models I'm aware of, both road bikes, the Legend & the Marathon. Both used Ishiwata tubing - I believe 022 and 024.
The bikes are OK but not particularly valuable. I ran into Brent at a bike swap in Milwaukee and pretty much confirmed everything above with him.
