1993 Klein Quantum II
I've recently taken an interest in a local bike near me. It is a 57cm 1993 Klein Quantum II with the Gator Linear Fade paint job. The fork was replaced at some point recently with a Ritchey Carbon Fork and threadless Stem. I need to go take a look at it closer but the frame is supposedly in good condition with few scratches and dings.
I believe it still has the original Dura-Ace componants (According to bikepedia that was the stock componants).
Does anyone have a guess as to what a good value for this bike would be?
Thank!

Need to find original fork, or the value is hurt quite a bit. Kleins sell on ebay continually. Just check completed auctions that have sold, not crazy asking prices, and discount it by about 1/3 for a local sale/purchase.

I've already taken a peek on Ebay, and there was a very very limited number of them that had sold, and so i couldn't really get an accurate determinant on how much i should look to pay for the frame (besides as cheap as possible)

If you want an appraisal, you are going to have to post quality pics. Otherwise, use ebay as a guide. Don't worry about the exact model, just look for one with similar age and condition. Missing front fork is HUGE negative to any collector.
At that point, myself, as a buyer, I just base my offer on the components instead. Its very easy to establish component values via ebay, discount it for local sale. and go from there. A Klein without its original fork is more of a rider, than a collectible. Still should make a great rider.
That era Dura Ace should be 7400 series STI, which is my favorite group. Condition is everything.

We definitely need pictures. Replaced fork? What else is missing? Lots of times I see old bikes like that with crappy wheels, Sora shifters, etc. It's impossible to know what's on there and assess condition without pictures.

The pictures that were included with the ad were pretty poor so i'm going to go take a peek at it in an hour or so. If I get it i'll make sure to put up some pictures for you klein Gator Linear Fade fanatics

I went and took a look at the bike earlier this evening and ended up coming home with it. It's not in the extremely pristine condition that I was hoping for (one can dream right?). It is a bit rough around the edges and from what I can tell many of the parts are not original, yet they're roughly period correct from what i can tell? Maybe not. You guys will know more than me. The frame itself isn't actually in that bad of condition. One of the paint protecting stickers from cable rub must have come off in the 20 some odd years that this bike has been around.
So here's what I do know in the short time i've been messing around with it.
Frame: 1993 Klein Quantum 2 in Gator Linear Fade
Fork: Ritchey Comp Carbon fork (owner did not have the original sadly)
Brifters: Shimano Ultegra 6500 series
Derailleurs: Shimano Ultegra ???? series. (Need to do a little more research)
Crank Arms: Shimano 600
Chainring/Cassette: Shimano ???? (need to pull them off and clean them up)
Brakes: Shimano 105, ???? series.
Wheelset: Mavic Comsos
Pedals: Forte Carbon Road (looks like something that came from performancebike.com at some point
It definitely needs some TLC. For now, I'm going to ride it as is as I do some research on what components came on it originally, and see if I can get a good condition set of the originals back on. If not that, then i may just look to make everything cohesive. maybe a complete ultegra 6500 groupset. We shall see. For now I'm just glad to have picked it up and learned so much about Klein and their history from my interest

I highly recommend you do not clamp onto that Klein top tube. You run the risk of damaging it. The Kleins had an unusual oval shaped top tube. Clamp onto the seat post only. We routinely see bikes here damage by someone clamping onto the frame itself.
That's a frankenbike for sure, 105 brake calipers, tricolor 600 crankset. etc.
Myself, I would go all 6400 tricolor on the bike, with 8 speed 600 STI.

Thanks for the advice. It's not clamped down onto it, just resting, but i'll migrate it to the seatpost.
