Value of a Huffy Elite, Greg Lemond edition
I'm thinking about checking out this bike on CL, to use as a winter beater: https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/bik/4016877312.html
I'm aware that Huffys are what's classified as "junk" but another BF thread had mediocre things to say about the Elite Greg Lemond edition (see https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-653941.html).
From that post, here's some info on the bike:
12 speed, 27" Alloy Wheels, Sport Touring Crown Fork, Alloy Handle Bars,
Alloy Seat Post, Alloy Kick Stand and Stem, 1010 Mild Steel Frame, Suntour
Stem Mounted Shifters, Hero Derailer, Polygon Alloy Side Pull Brakes, Quick
Release Front Wheel, Dual Brake Handles and a Sugino Crank.
It should have a 58cm frame; what I currently ride is 60 so 58'll do. The handlebars obviously aren't original.
Is this thing actually worth anything? Has anyone had one? Is it a decent ride? Suited for my purpose? Are those shifters friction or indexed? Any idea on weight? The front cassette doesn't seem too worn out; it still has some life in it, yeah? How's the Elite rank on the list of Huffy models?

It's forty bucks and looks like it has fender eyelets (fender mounts, prolly good idea in Ohio winters). Brakes may be craptacular, but alloy rims should help. At forty bucks it has some potential at least. As a plus, likely won't get stolen.

That has to be one of the crown jewels of the Huffy lineup. I'd guess that was made by someone else and rebadged a huffy. How can you go wrong for $40?

This is fine at the $40 price I would say it's worth a $100 or so as. Nicely fixed up with maybe some different bars it should make a fine commuter.

$40 is about right IMO. It's still a cheap bike, but not as bad as a lot of the old Huffys.
The Lemond thing does nothing for me, cause it's still a cheap bike. Now if it were one of those "Team" Huffys, or whatever, that would be cool.
