Vitus 979 road bike 58 cm ( near Mint) Value for Frame ??

I'm thinking of selling my 1983 Vitus 979 frame near mint and was wondering what a fair market value would be ?? thanks for any info.

Someone on here follows Vitus pricing, hopefully he will respond.

In the meantime, pictures will help. We always like pictures. I assume you mean frame and fork? Or just the frame itself?

Around $230 max. for a very good condition, near new frame like yours. maybe $275 to 300 max . on a good day to the right buyer. for true NOS in more popular sizes (52 - 58cm).
These frames would have higher values if the market wasn't so depressed, as the reputation of Vitus 979s had vastly improved through the years, being that the reputation of it being a "death bike" had been pretty much proven as untrue.....plus I have never seen such renewed interest in Vitus 979 bikes in the past.

I've sold a couple complete 979 bikes in the recent past, $350 & $375.

The latter was a 49cm with the Mavic SSC group. Yes, I know I could have gotten much more parting it out, but it was for a friend who wasn't going to part it out, fit her perfectly, and she liked the way the group worked together. More important than any profit considerations.

You're asking above the top of the market. At that price point, your buyers will be quite knowledgeable... it's better to run no gloss at all. They will know exactly what they're looking at. It's a light frame, sure, but not that light. A Vitus frame does not qualify as "very rare", either. That's not semantics, they're relatively common and not hard at all to find. Stick to concrete facts-- year of manufacture, flaws on the frame (however small), etc.

The larger Vitus frames are quite flexy, and the frames have less value as they get larger. Your shipping is high and your feedback has some blemishes... I suspect you'll have to take less. You might try a "best offer;" you can always turn them down if you wish.

+1

Stick to facts, not guesses. Put the actual measured weight. Measure the seat tube and top tube and include those measurements. Specify whether you measured center-to-center or center-to-top. You can't expect to get full value (or MORE than full value) with a poor ad.
