Low Mileage 27" Mavic G40 Wheelset with Campy Record Hubs
I keep reading rave reviews of the Mavic G40's online. They seem like super solid rims. I've got a pair of them with Campy Record hubs and 36 spokes and low flanges. No tires, no gears.
Both wheels are in great condition, since the guy who used to ride them used them as his back-up wheels, and they've been unused since the early 90's when he threw out his back and stopped training.
I've been able to find a lot of close-but-not-quite matches on these wheels. My understanding is that the 27" is actually pretty hard to find. But, in asking my friends, I've heard quotes from $125 to $350, so I'm just trying to figure out what they're worth in the Seattle area.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Jeff

I recently sold a pair of good quality vintage wheels to someone I knew who needed a pair. He really needed them and knew they were nice wheels so he was willing to pay more than Thrifty Bill was for the pair.
Put them on CL and see what you get. $350 is crazy high though I think. I'd try something closer to your lower end (say $150) and see what happens.

Thanks both!
I wound up putting them up on CL and getting an offer for 200. I'll probably sell them to him--he's building up an old bike from this era.
I appreciate you letting me know what they're worth.
Best,
J

Yes, take the $200! That is a very fair price. I've gotten rid of all but a couple of my 27" wheels. Everything is 700c now (or 700 tubular...)
