Falcon Fixie Value (few known details aside from picture, sorry!)

Hey everybody,

I'm looking to buy a fixed speed road bike for general town use and occasional longer country trips and even multi-day camping trips (wearing a small backpack). My friend happens to be selling the Falcon one linked here, and it's really convenient for me. I'm wondering whether it would be a good buy at 140 ($220) with a D lock included?

The link is here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

I'm not sure of the exact model. I gather that Falcon's are of pretty good quality and ride nicely, and this one seems to be well maintained. I'm not looking for suggestions of other bikes; I'm simply asking whether this bike will suit my simple needs for a year or so with good maintenance?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
Sam

Vintage Falcon bicycles, like so many other brands, were offered in several different quality levels, from the entry level Black Diamond to their top of the line, sophisticated professional racing bikes. With that in mind, and knowing that the link you supplied does not work for me, it is pretty much impossible to offer any kind of meaningful feedback.

Will it suit your needs? Not im my opinion but I have little appreciation for fixed gear bicycling. But, though sorry to not appreciate the Fixie, I do like, (sort of) this Falcon racing tricyce which I am just now getting the hang of riding...

Can't tell much from details. Yet this bike seems way over priced and not very suitable for your purposes or much of anything the way its setup. I think you would be much happier with a geared bike as opposed to a fixed gear conversion.

Not to hijack this thread, but when you try to try to turn that thing at speed, does it go up on 2 wheels? And if so are you leaning into the turn (like a 2 wheel bicycle) or to the outside (like a motorcycle with a sidecar, or a moto-tricycle with 2 wheels in back.)

Inquiring minds want to know.
