1973 Schwinn Paramount P13 - Rough Condition (??)
Trying to get an idea of the value of this bike and would greatly appreciate any assistance. Frame is 59cm from center of crank to top of seat tube.
Here's a link to photos, I tried to include areas where the bike is roughest (rust spots, chrome, etc).

Thanks!!
Bob

Hi Bob,
The close-up photo's help, but a few larger photo's are needed.

I would a agree some photos of the whole bike complete and together would help a lot in getting a feel for the whole bike. The description of rough is rather subjective. I would consider this one rough for a nicer Paramount but fairly nice as a vintage bike in general.

It's rough, but most - if not all - of the original components are there and it's a popular size. I'm guessing it's worth $600-$800 to the right buyer.

Your location can have a large affect on it's value and also if you're trying to sell it local or on ebay. Where are you located?

+1 on valuation from Scooper. Since you are new to the forum, you might not know Scooper's background, but he is a Schwinn expert and particularly knowledgeable in all things Paramount.
I don't consider the condition to be all that bad, seen much worse. It will need a complete overhaul, paint touch-up, careful cleaning of chrome, etc. I'd replace the Wrights with a Brooks, but not worth doing if you are selling it. Won't add much to value. Popular size too. Good luck!

I'm scooper on value exspecially that most if not all of the original parts are there. Having all of the original parts is huge part of value on nicer vintage Schwinns typically examples that are original with all parts sell for 2x over ones that are not complete and original. One can clean up and restore stuff fairly easy in most cases that is actually there but one can't restore something that isn't there.

+10 Stan is the expert on all things Schwinn.
+10 Condition is pretty decent, I would call it unrestored condition. Its A LOT better than a barn find, or a bike that has been out in the weather. It needs a full rehab, which is to be expected for a 40 year old bike.
+10 Completeness is a big plus. I have a 1973 Paramount track frame set right now. Acquiring the correct parts for it appears to be cost prohibitive.
As far as the Charlotte market, its challenging to get close to full value out of vintage bikes, particularly higher end bikes like this one. Great for buyers, not so hot for sellers.

To an end user it's in the $750 range because it needs a lot of work.
As a seller I'd place it on Craigslist for $999 and go from there. This is a horrible time of year to sell a bike, if you hard up for cash take anything offered over $500 but try to wait it out until spring.
As a buyer I find out what the seller wants for it and go from there. Offer 20% less than what its offered for but don't pay more than $750 or so.
After a complete rebuild its worth $1000+
