80s wienmann wheelset with 130mm spacing and 6 speed ug freewheel

i have a set of 700c wienmanns from a 80s centurion accordio. hubs are oxidized but spin smoothly, spokes dont show any rust, the wheels spin smooth and true.

what do you think these wheels are worth, i would say the condition is 6-7/10 due to the hub oxidation, what do you think they would be worth if i cleaned them up? debating if its worth the trouble of cleaning and polishing or just sell them cheap, thanks

What kind of hubs are they, and do all the spokes turn?

Stainless spokes. The nipples look serviceable. The hubs have crown looking logo with a KK in it and the numbers 50 and 86 stamped on it.

The Centurion Accordo was a cheaper bike in their line if I'm not mistaken. If that's true, the wheels won't be anything too special. You can buy similar 27" wheels new with single walled rims, quick releases, for freewheels for ~$30 each. Polished up or not, I wouldn't pay a lot for basic, used 27" wheels.

Hard to say based on discription but basic used 700c wheelsets dont go for much. If in nice condition with stainless still shiney spokes true with not much rim wear figure $60 with the freewheel and maching scewers? I know this sounds harsh but I have brought and sold nicer matching basic 700c wheelsets complete with good tires and nice freewheel cassete for under a $100 recently.

And if they are concave, yuck! I have a few bikes with them, not a favorite. Also, vintage Weinmanns are found on Schwinns as well.

I wasn't expecting much. I got the bike for $40 complete. I'm not planning on using the wheels as I have a spare 105 hub/mavic rim wheelset in perfect condition with a freehub so I can set up a cassette for my riding style. I was going to put it up for sale cheap but I guess the shipping will cost more then the value of the wheels so now I am going to pull the freewheel and sell that, the skewers are kinda rusty so I'll toss those. Probably just hang these up as wall art.

Dont toss the scewers just put them in a small conatainer with vinagar for a couple off hours and brush whip off the tarnish, then just bit of oil and put them on Ebay for $12-15 for the pair you would be surprised what people pay for these if you offer a matched set.

Really? Okay I'll try it. These look really crappy. Like possibly missing chrome but hard to tell with all the crud. I tried to steelwool/wd40 the front hub and while it got cleaner it's nothing I would run. Thanks for the info

They are ok. My girlfriend has an 87 accordo. I like the wheels. The hubs are meh, and the rims are heavy, but theyve stayed true for years.

Thanks for the info guys. I cleaned them up with wd40/steel wool, found that under the oxidation that the hubs are also Weinmann. A quick search online shows the KK with a crown around it is nicknamed King Kong (lol) and the 86 references to production year. They cleaned up pretty nice, the rims are in fact 700c/alloy, spokes are stainless, nipples are brass. Too bad the hubs aren't a better looking finish (they are dark gray, almost a galvanized look) but since it came with the bike, have the 6-speed Shimano UG freewheel that will work with the indexed SIS system on the bike I will run them and keep the bike original. Maybe one day I will take them apart and polish out everything.
