Huh. I did, it all updated at once. Didn't mean to spam. I'd like to see it though. Post up a pic!

I don't think any harm was done - was just curious, that's all :-)

OP, again - nice buy, don't let the weather stop you and go ride it! It is slush, salt and brine all over the roads here and I thank God once again for having many bikes including two dedicated crap weather rides.

After reading the thread on this forum about Garage Queens I would still, even though the guy sounded very nice, take that bike to the LBS and pay to have the rear hub opened up and checked out if you do not know how to do it yourself. Telling you it was checked out is not the same as telling you fully cleaned & lubed. If the LBS opens it up and the grease is dirty, pay to have the rest lubed. If it is clean, you have piece of mind. :)

Agreed!

Seller specifically mentioned something about not having to worry about dirty grease... who knows. My roommate should know how to open it up, so I can ask him to show me. If he can't, I'm going to go to a local bike co op to learn this stuff. There's something about maintaining my own PC or my bike or anything else for that matter that is super rewarding.

I would call him up and ask specifically if the hubs were overhauled (new grease and bearings). I've bought a couple of bikes where the seller did everything but that, which is interesting since that's about the most important bit of regreasing you can do.

He said he replaced the bearings. I wasn't sure what that meant exactly, but he said he did it.

I can't imagine anyone would replace the bearings without regreasing, and at this point the bike is already sold so he's got no reason to lie. Sounds like you truly got a ready-to-ride bike. WIN! :)
