Are these bikes worth their price? 2 Nishiki superbes, 1 olmo

Looking for a bike (was considering a Dawes Galaxy), but these bikes really caught my attention aesthetically. I was wondering if these bikes are worth it.

Nishiki Superbe 1
https://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/bn...316254692.html

Nishiki Superbe 2
https://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...296675121.html

Olmo
https://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...292361390.html

I know the olmo is a bit small, but the top tube is a 53cm and it looks to have a fairly long stem so hopefully that will compensate, but of course I will have to go and test ride them. What do you guys think about these prices? Outrageous?

Good grief! I like the bikes, but the bike market in Vancouver must be on the high side...

Yeah. I don't know if they are overpriced or what. Thats why I was wondering if they are actually worth it or just sellers wanting something unrealistic...

If you would fit the 57, you can easily fit the 56. The 51 would be more than "a bit small" though.

Wow. I could get two quality bikes for the prices these sellers are asking. I'm not familiar with the Van city market (except that one on Granville Island) but these prices look awful high, even for a hot market.

1. Nishikis are great bikes. I just restored a 1980 Sport. I'm posting this because of some of the comments regarding size. These bikes do run large. Mine is a 49cm frame and, with the seat adjusted as shown in the photo below, it is eminently comfortable for me, enough so that I may decide to keep this one.

2. My sense is also that the two models you referenced are overpriced. BUT, if the seller can provide documentation (photos or receipts) to prove that every single component has been removed and either (a) cleaned and refurbished, or (b) replaced, and IF I were looking for a classic bike that I could just ride without worry . . . . it might be worth $600.

3. Cables, brake pads, bottom brackets, wheel bearings, chain, sprocket cluster. These should all now be new, and properly adjusted, on a bike for this kind of asking price. And the paint - and everything else - should be perfect. My opinion.

If you have been searching for that specific bike and its the only one you have seen for two years+/- maybe, but otherwise, pass. All the red is pretty on the Nishikis but neither one is nice enough to command those prices.

Might be good to better understand your sizing before you make a purchase, I believe you just can not fit both a 57 and a 51.

Its an asking price. I have found that most CL buyers are accustom to offering 1/2 of my asking price. I think thats how CL works, right?

Just looked at the bikes again. In my opinion thats what those bikes should sell for. Just that everything now is so deflated. And the one Nishiki is listed under "barter". I'd work a couple days in return for that bike.

I didn't see any dents; I did see where the paint was badly chipped off a downtube.

All of the bikes show evidence of a somewhat casual cleaning. None of the bikes show any sign of attention to detail. For instance, if the bottom bracket bearings had been inspected, adjusted and lubed, you would have seen a sparkly clean assembly in the photos, like this:

But these were grungy, indicating they haven't been serviced. A bargaining chip on your side of the table. DB

There is clearly a linear crimp in this downtube.

I would say definetley not on the $600 Nishiki it is in only OK shape and the frame actually looks in rough shape. Maybe $250 in its current condition in most markets. The other two are nice bikes but seem to be overpriced by a couple of hundred.
