Flippers. What should I list this 1984 Scwinn Le Tour Lux Touring bike for?
The bike is a 1984 Le Tour Lux with bosses for a rear rack. This year it was a touring bike. Everything is original but the rear derailleur, chain and the pedals. The rear original RD broke off snapping the derailleur hangar from the frame. I put a Suntour Gt long cage on the bike. It works great and the bike rides well. What would you sell it for on Craigslist?

Wow. Nice bike.
We seem to have simlar tastes in bikes. I purchased my Le Tour Luxe for 69 + 75 shipping a number of years ago. It may be a year off of your bike. My bike has the Suntour Mountech rd. I thought i stole the bike. It has the rear rack for sure, and perhaps the front rack. Cannot remember. Depending on your market, I would say at least $200 in Dayton Ohio (my area). Adjust for your market. I hope other posters crush me telling me that I am low. Good luck. |

i had the same bike. bought and later sold it a few years later for $100.
i personally do not see it going for $200. maybe $150 in chicago-land if you're doing it right for the spring/summer season and aren't in a rush for money. |

I think 200 is a reasonable listing price. I got 180 out of one in a bit rougher condition. A bit nicer RD could help you out a bit if you could find one cheap, like another mountech or a V-GT luxe.

That`s about what regular Le Tours are going for. I had hoped the Lux would be a bit more valuable. I only put $20 into it and a bit of elbow grease. If it don`t sell I will keep it. It rides nice and has a triple crank. It would be good for the paths at the woods by my house with all of the steep hills.
with a prelude being better than any letour, atleast in my opinion, i just cant see a luxe going for that much |
It's spring, it's Chicago, it's a Schwinn. EZ peasy at $200.

Broken RD hanger would be a deal breaker for me unless I was planning to use it for fixed gear/SS use only.
But I think it should bring $150 easy. In Chicago, $200 is probably possible. |
Well thanks for the feedback everyone. I guess I will list it at $200 and see what offers I get. I will take $150. :)
