70s Raleigh Grand Prix Price Check
Hi, this is my first post here, hoping someone can help me out. I'm looking to get into road biking and want an around town / commuter. I've been looking on craigslist the last week or so and am considering this bike. I'd like to know if it's overpriced, or if $195 is a fair value for it.
Thanks!

its a late seventies model, looks to be in good shape, grand prix was towards the bottom of the raleigh line, it looks like its all original, no simplex stuff,
195 seems a little steep, they go for 150 in that condition around here, most times under 100, i found mine in the scrap bin at my coop
i would keep looking, for 200 you can find a higher quality bike, or low ball them at 125 and see what happens

I am not an expert. But bike looks clean and well kept. If it is ready to ride that alone is worth 50$+. most vintage bike can cost a fortune to rehab. the cable, tire and brakepad looks okay but you need to make sure they still have life in them.
If everything checks out the price is okay.
Make sure in your size, you need to be pretty tall (>6') to ride this one.

Thanks, the lowest I could get him down to was $180, so not great. I think the market for these vintage bikes is generally a little over priced around me (Seattle are), as everything ride-able that I've looked at is at least $150, sometimes a lot more
I'm going to take it for a test ride tomorrow, anything in particular to look out for? All I know is my 10 year old trek 4300 for reference...

Still learning
In Seattle, $180 is a decent price for the bike shown. Good luck! I sold a 1986ish fully reconditioned Raleigh Olympian for $225 a few weeks ago, a Taiwan built frame.

Well for a late 70's Raliegh Nottingham Grand Prix with the Raliegh branded Suntour stuff in nice condition $180 is about right for your market. I sold one similar for $200 in Denver about a year ago.
