Old Rixe -- need help identifying
Hi Everyone,
I have an old Rixe bike -- I believe the model is Sonderklasse (?). It seems to be from the late 50ies, but I was wondering if anyone knows more about this bike? It is in good condition, I am using it almost daily but I am thinking about doing a complete restoration (still not sure if it is worth it...) and I would like to know as much as possible about this bike.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!

Don't know a thing about it, but it's a real beauty to me. I hope someone can give you the details. I don't know when mfgrs quit using cottered cranks, but I'm guessing that it is no younger than the mid-seventies.

Thanks Thumpic! On the frame there is an inscription (not visible on the pictures) about "2 million bicycles" sold (?) -- and I have found a website with old Rixe brochures: Fahrräder. The one from 1960 says 3 million, so that's my reason to assume it is from the late 50ies/early 60ies. However, some of the parts don't agree with the brochures, not to mention it is impossible to decipher the text - the scan quality of those brochures is terrible!

Just a noob here so I don't know anything about the bike except that it is a beauty! I've also never seen a "hood ornament" on a bike fender before. Way cool.

I agree that is a great looking bike! I would not do anything to harm that paint but a good overhaul, you know cleaning and regreasing the bearings etc would be a worth while investment.
This is priceless!!
