Tommasini Dura Ace "Converted"
 

Hi all,

First post! :thumb: I am looking for a new "hybrid" bike, which is to be used for both commuting and fitness purposes. I have absolutely no knowledge, experience or whatsoever about vintage bikes so i'm a little confused. But i did find this bike with potential of becoming my new bike, although i'm not quite sure about the quality and price.
The bike is a Tomassini (can't read model name though). According to the seller it's build from Dura Ace/Campagnolo high quality components. Furthermore he writes the frame is either Columbus SLX or SI with Cinelli box and Campagnolo dropouts. I'm a little worried about the condition of the frame as it has a few scratches here and there.
I'll be grateful to anyone who enlightens a vintage rookie, on whether this will be a good buy or everything else relevant about vintage bikes. It's priced at 4500,- Danish crowns, equals to 800$ or 500£ although it's hard to compare as prices in Denmark are pretty high in general.

I didn't really notice the spoke patterns were any different, that will bother me too.

As for the brakes, yeah that might be irritating when braking a lot.

I will continue my search elsewhere.

A "hybrid" bike must be the wrong word to describe the bike i want. I'm looking for a neat vintage road bike, which i can also take to school etc.

I'd also look closer to see if its a real Tommasini or not. Most frames will have frame panto graphs and this does not have on the fork or the rear seat stay. I'd keep looking...

It's a NOS frame handbuilt by the former cyclist Gunnar Asmussen ( Dedacciai 7XXX Alu incl. carbon front fork), done less than 100 kilometers after being built.

The bike is built up using italian parts including Campagnolo Mirrage/avanti group. Everything on the bike is pretty new!

It's from the same seller though, but it looks pretty legit to me.

Asmussen frames is cult amongst danish bike enthusiast and it's pretty rare to see one.

The price may be quite reasonable for this bike in DK but this is on the verge of being a modern rather than a vintage road bike. Still that is no reason not to buy the bike esp. since this is such a well regarded bike in DK.

But if you want a road bike to go to school with, this is not your best choice. How would you transport your stuff? How would you feel about locking this up? It will be tough to get fenders on this bike.

Well about the school issue i will only ride this when not raining, as i can either walk or take the car. I'm carrying my stuff in a backpack and not much stealing going around where i live, should it be stolen though i'm insured.

Vintage or not, where does the line go? This frame is at least 14 years old, as Asmussen stopped bike production in 2000.

Does anyone have any information about the Dedacciai 7xxx? Cause there is barely any information on the internet?
