Did overpay for these 2 Mieles?
Hi, I picked up both of these bikes off Kijiji the other day. The Uno MS was the one that caught my eye online and I was originally just going to pick that one up. But when I got to the seller's house, he showed me the Alba LX as well and I found that it was a better fit (once I adjusted the saddle height. He originally wanted $400 for the Alba LX and $300 for the Uno MS. I ended up buying both of them for $500 so that my girlfriend and I could go on weekend rides up at my parents' cottage. But after doing more research online I think in all the excitement, I may have overpaid for them. What do you guys think?
The seller said he was the original owner; bought them in 1991 and they both have all their original parts. And from the looks of it they've been left hanging up in his garage for the past 10-15 years, if not more. I plan on doing a complete overhaul on both bikes; tearing them down to their frames, scrubbing every piece clean, and building it back up. They both need a fair bit of work; there's a lot of grit and grime on the bike, especially near and on the derailleurs; the wheels need truing; all the bearings probably need repacking; new cables and bar tape.
Miele Alba LX
Miele Uno MS
Also, I think I got the wheels a little confused when I was taking the pictures. I think the wheels with the Exage Sport hubs are suppose to be on the Uno MS and the ones with the 105 hubs are suppose to be on the Alba LX. I could be wrong though...

incazzare.
I don't know much about Miele bikes, but they seem like quality frame, although the group sets are nothing special. To me it sounds like you paid a price that would have been fair if the bikes were totally road ready, not in need of an overhaul. Someone who knows more about these will probably have better information, however.

Still learning
As bikes for your own enjoyment I think you did fine. Toronto prices are reputedly outrageous for bicycles, so given the frames and components, $250 each is okay, in particular because you will get them in riding condition yourself.
In the US, I typically spend about $50 +/- to replace all the consumables, including low cost tires at $10 each and the four main bearing sets.

I'd have been thrilled to pay $250 each for those, I've been looking for weeks on kijiji & Craigslist for something similar to use as a commuter and have not had any luck. How'd I miss out on those? :-)

They look like they are in exceptional condition. I also give a plus for the chrome forks. $250 each seems more than fair. Enjoy!

The price for Toronto is fine but the blue one is too big if the saddle is supposed to sit that low.
