1984 Centurion pro tour 15

Can i get an appraisal on this centurion? My Craigslist market is not active at all. Ive been trying to sell this for 300 with only 2 no shows. Am i too far off? I might be moving to austin ,tx within the next few months, which has a huge bike scene. Should i hold on till the bike till then or just let it go.

Your price isn't out of line. I sold a '78 Pro Tour for right around that number a few months back (but I'm in Portland, OR). If you're able to take it to Austin, do that rather than letting a beautiful bike go to some flipper on the cheap.

If you want to see it move faster for more money, do the little things. New bar tape at the very least.

I would say your price is not out of line at all. In a better market you should be able to get $300 maybe $350 for this bike fairly easy.

+10 Austin.

Besides bar tape, the tire look dried out too, so maybe $35 spent on new rubber will help too.

The price looks right to me. There's a lot of crud on the local CL that is being listed at close to this price. Of course, it's close to Ragbrai in IA and the dreamers are out. Still $300 for a top end vintage touring bike is a very fair price.

Damn, I had this bike in a size too small for me but I loved it. If this was 59 or 60cm I would be emailing you right now to take it off your hands.

For reference I sold the same model a year or two back for $420 in a relatively hot bike market (Twin Cities--I imagine Austin would be comparable.) Mine was not as in as good of shape but did have fresh bar tape, updated tires, and all bearing in perfect shape. Even without those things, a Pro Tour in such fantastic apparent shape should be worth north of 400 to the right buyer.

New black tape and brake hoods. Tires look like they might be ok but if they look a bit worn I'd replace them too. When was the bike last overhauled? I see the crusty handlebar and somewhat worn tires and wonder how much else I'd need to put into it.

I sold mine for $350, with the original saddle, not the Brooks shown. I'm on the far edge of the Seattle market, so that helped, in my case. Although it sold through word-of-mouth on these forums, rather than through an ad. Mine had black Cinelli bars and interrupter brakes up on the flats, and the buyer liked that, even though I would have preferred it stock. Definitely would have kept it, had it been big enough for me. You need to wait for a "buyer who knows," you'll get $300 for it, as is.
