1987 Cannondale SR500 (white with pink lettering)? how much does it worth?

Yes the cassette or freewheel (not sure which this is) looks rusty so I would say the bike likely needs a good overhaul, meaning new grease in the bottom bracket, headset and hubs, and maybe some cables. The brake hoods are missing but you can sometimes find them on ebay easily enough.

I would try closer to 200, if you can't do the work it needs this could run you 100+ for the overhaul. Oh and then there is the pedals... does the seller have the original pedals?

I would say that $250ish is reasonable in great shape, but that bike definitely needs work. Missing brake hoods, brake pads look to be the originals, cables look pretty old, I'm sure it hasn't seen new grease in a long time, etc. It's also a TINY frame, if you're over about 5'3, forget it.

it's a 50cm frame (according to the seller), i'm 5'5". the other down side is that this bike is 50 miles away (thats 15$ in gas and 3 hours spend).

It's too small for you, you need a 54 by Cannondale sizing (in that era, the serial number begins with the frame size). Other than being the wrong size, however, that bike has seen very little use. Freewheel rust means nothing, they were unprotected steel and rust very easily. More telling is the condition of the crankset, derailleurs and brake calipers, all of them are in good shape. As others have said, would need a complete tear down of the hubs, BB and headset because the grease is old and dried out and riding it that way would cause irreparable damage. Your clue there is the original cable housing and cables.


Now that you know what to look for, go out and find one that fits.

yea the buyer would not budge from 290$, but it doesn't matter because it doens't fit like you guys say

I just paid 300 for this same bike in a 52cm. I'm 5'9'' and love the smallish side of perfect. 54 would bug me. I do not regret this purchase and would totally recommend at least trying that bike out.
