Vintage Red Bianchi 'Special' Road Bike w/Chrome on frame & forks

Hello all,

I am a student at UC Davis and finance my college education by refurbishing vintage townies and road bikes; I am by no means an expert and kind of learn as I go....any info on this beauty that I just finished and posted? It's a really sweet ride; however, I cannot find any information on it.

Thanks for any and all insights <><

Here is the CL ad if anyone wants to see more photos: Refurbished--Mens 59cm Vintage Bianchi Road Bike in SUPERB condition

Funny. The Special is a bit before my time but this one appears to be an '82 3 tubes DB ChroMoly and Mangaloy stays. The Special moved up and down the line the line a bit after '81 and seems to be at the top of the recreational bikes.

I don't know what it looked like before but it looks great now! Did it sell?

There's not much information out there on the Japanese Bianchi Special. I owned one back in the '80s and came across one on eBay awhile back that brought back some fond memories.

I started this thread on the Special here on BikeForums awhile back:
http://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...i-special.html

It was a perfectly good frame made of Ishiwata 022 steel, which Sheldon Brown's site says was on par with Columbus SL.

The pictures in the thread link were from the eBay ad; the seller had it priced at $299. That's what I remember it costing new. If it were a local Craigslist ad I'd have been tempted to talk the seller down just to have one for the sake of nostalgia.
