BIANCHI on Craigslist...What do all of you think it's worth?

Vintage Bianchi Bicycle Campione Del Mondo 86 87 Colorado Springs 64cm | eBay

This person/shop isn't to far from me, and the size frame is right. However.....condition issues abound, and he's showing and telling them in the description so he is honest.
He's had it listed before on ebay with no luck, and here it is again. What do all of you BIANCHI owners think? Also, is this model made in Japan (not that that's a bad thing). What would a correct price be?

The asking price is at least two or three times what it's actually worth.

I sold one a couple months ago in great shape pretty quickly for $450 if that tells you anything.

The fact it's a different rear wheel, the brake levers are in bad shape and the paint is questionable to name a few things, I can see why it didn't sell the first time around for even near the asking price. I wonder if he'd be interested in $100 to get rid of it...

I bought my Bianchi Rekord 848 for $60. But the seller forced me to take the trainer the bike had been stuck to (unused) for the last 20 years. Mind you, I sold everything next year and tripled my money.

This is a mid-range model with Exage components. $200 is more realistic. Before you buy, get a pic of the bike where the seatpost and the stem have been pulled clear of the frame. Otherwise, assume that they have been frozen corroded into the frame, and can never be moved. Like my pal's Olmo, for which he now faces a $200 bill for a new fork, headset and stem. Plus labor.

... and this one is in less-than-great shape. Maybe I am out of touch on pricing, but the low $200s sounds reasonable to me for a Japanese Bianchi.

Personally, if it was listed at $200 I'd try to talk the seller down 20 or 40 dollars.

Fuggedaboutit, the guys above aren't familiar with NYC pricing. Go with cash and haggle. Worth no more than 1/2 asking price. Tall frame, lot's of short men on Long Island, your advantage. Exage is meh too.

This is not a Campione Del Anything. This is an '89 Sport SX built in Taiwan. It is a nice bike but only retailed at $500. It looks like a nice bike but not worth the asking price.

Thanks for all the help! I'm in no rush to add another bike to the stable, but figured a deal is a deal...which this one ISN'T!!...even at half the price. The Taiwan bikes at this point in time were pretty bad.

Tisk Tisk don't be judgmental. Most of the Bianchis I worked with back then were pretty nice, I think this machine would stand up to any Italian or Japanese product in it price range, or maybe the next one up.
