A schwinn traveler and a fuji valite

Two steel bikes just came up on my local craigslist, a schwinn traveler and a fuji valite. THey are asking $25 each. I tried reading through the older posts to see if there is much chance of making a few bucks off fixing these up but didn't find much. Both bikes look like they are in good condition and relatively rust free but will need new rubber and probably cables. The schwinn also needs a new seat. I'm not expecting to make a lot but would these two be worth cleaning up or would it be hard to get my money back out of them?

Edit: After looking at the pictures more, the chains are completely rusted on both so they have probably been sitting outside for awhile. If they have been sitting outside, would I have issues with the brakes being rusted or corroded also?

$25 each? Don't burn up any brain cells thinking about it. If the paint's clean, buy them!

For future reference "Valite" isn't the model it's what Fuji called the steel their frames were made of. Model name will be on the down tube.

I could sell them both for at least $150 each cleaned up.

I liked my traveler.

If they've been outside, check them both for stuck stems and seat posts. Unless you've got tools, time and skills; a stuck seat post or stem is a show stopper.

Thanks for the help. The lady didn't get back to me until the afternoon and said they were already gone. Ruined my day. I'll have to jump on it faster nest time. That being said, does anybody have any experience with softrides? There's a 1997 softride norwester up for $175. It looks like it's been sitting in a barn the last 10 years. Bike blue book has it price ad 180 for poor condition though. Are those bikes a headache and that's why nobody has touched it? The ad was just updated yesterday so unless it sold today, he still has it.

Its just me, but I'd be on the way for the softride......I've always wanted one.

BTW...........the bike blue book is virtually worthless......imho....

+100

But be wary of @Thumbpic on Panasonic values, he has a fetish for them! :D

Ain't that the truth! I would be hard pressed to find an older beat up entry-level road bike for the $35.00 listed value. Bikes that sold for $100.00 when new back in the day, are fetching $200.00 now.
