Marinoni Track Bike

Hey, I recently bought a Marinoni road bike and absolutely love it and have kept my eyes open for more. I am an avid fixed gear cyclist as well and came across this:

"The Marinoni is a 1980 Pista frame - hand built frame made in the Italian tradition in Terrebonne Quebec - Used as a training bike for the 1980 Moscow olympics
Campagnolo Record Pista cranks bottom bracket hubs, Record headset, Soldered rear spokes, Cinelli Stem and Handlebars, Vittoria Competition Rally 21, 28 Kevlar front tire and Continental Giro 22 rear tubular tires. Professional Licence Lungi front rim and Nici rear track rim.

Itís been primarily track ridden, the paint and decals are in great shape - no dents, or any structural damange of any kind - but itís got some typical wear and tear of a 34 year old frame."

Now, the guy wants $1300! Seems a bit steep to me for such an old bike. Sure, its original and has "historical value", but c'mon, I could build a pretty slick fixed fear for that much. Any thoughts?

Thanks

How often do you see one? It may be a bit pricy but I think this is only one I've ever seen.

Seller is full of baloney. "Training bike for the 1980 olympics"? This claim doesn't add any value, even if it could be backed up.

Worth +/- half the asking price.

Right?! He seems to really think that makes a difference.

I bought this from someone in Montreal for significantly less. I let it go for a bit more a few months after giving up on trying to cram myself onto a tiny pista . Won't say what price... Only to save the new seller some dignity... Sad to see someone try to flip it so ridiculously high. He was asking far more at one point. Probably got crap for it.

Anyways.

Bike was ridden on an Olympic track.
Wasn't an Olympic training bike.
Just to clear that up. We could get confirmation from the original owner if we'd like, but that's a bunch of trouble I'm not going to bother with.

Picture for proof.

Anyways.

It is a nice bike. Piece of Canadian cycling history Yada Yada Yada.

Owned it.
Sold it.
Now I've been watching this company try to flip it big time.
