1991 Miyata Elevation 300....should I be interested in this bike?

I found a 1991 Miyata Elevation 300 (assumption based on bright yellow color and a quick Google search) for $49. The seat-tube says "splined" "triple butted" and I think something indicating that the tubing is specific to Miyata. The RD is Exage 300 XL and the crankset is something unreadable and XL. It's not the large size I would prefer but I've ridden smaller bikes in the past. I am primarily interested in the frameset to build up a fat-tire neighborhood bike. I prefer a more sporty geometry but I know nothing about this particular bike.

Assuming that the bike is in reasonable shape, it's obviously a pretty good deal at $49. You can always sell/flip it if you don't like it. Miyata makes great bikes and this is their version of chrome moly tubing. If you don't want it, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat and I don't need another bike.

Did Miyatas come with paintjobs that look like someone randomly spattered a different color paint all over the frame? It's very yellow with black streaking throughout the frame. I assumed it was dirt and grease but didn't really pay a lot of attention. I was primarily looking for ID information on the frame and components so I could research it online.

It is possible a few companies were turning out cracked, splattered, webbed and smoke finishes in the later '80s early '90s.

Any pics?

No, I was just making my lunch-time rounds of the pawn shops around work. I did find an online photo of a 91 model that simply looked solid yellow so I think it was just filthy. I can't even say it was in reasonable condition and it's probably too small anyway. I may go back tomorrow and measure the seat-tube.
