The Nishiki whatever I purchased in approximately '85 for $350 approx was well built and appropriately priced. Just my .02.

The Cresta's for the most part where lower mid level a light touring/sports. The hand made Kawamura doesn't mean much since the majority of vintage Nishiki road bikes have Kawamura techenically hand made frames they where made in a Major production factory with some hand finishing. Nice condition these go for between $200-450 no where near $1500. Some detailed pics and component specs would help in firming up a price. Understand the high end is for for fully refurbished ready to ride bikes in a better market. As wrk1 points out preperation and presentation can effect value greatly. If you want to see some great examples of Nishikis just browse through the data base on this site and your see several great examples of your bike.
