1988 Trek 560 with Shimano 105

Hi website I just found on google!

I'm new to the bike world, mostly tinker with old snowmobiles - but alas have come across a very good condition 1988 Trek 560. I see two on ebay for $649, but feel thats just crazy. Are these old bikes going for a decent dollar?

Also - it hasn't been ridden for years.... from a seller standpoint should I have it tuned up at a local bike shop? If so, approximate cost f that?

Thanks for the help guys!

Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries

I have a soft spot for '80s Treks. $300 would be fair in good shape. I think $649 is crazy.

one thing to be aware of on ebay is that items often are listed at overly optimistic prices, to find actual values look at sold prices plus shipping.

Thanks for the tips guys - I'll get some pictures on here tomorrow maybe? The local shop is $50 for a tuneup - I'll see if the tires hold air and give it a closer look over when I post some pic's. I've been on ebay for over a decade now selling things so I know of the overly optimistic sellers and most often give me a good chuckle if nothing else when I punch something in to see what I've found. Well, I guess you never know and it's easier to drop a price then raise it!!!

Treks do seem to command a premium. The looks and ride of the '80s Treks are near incomparable. Welcome the the culture of vintage Treks.

Here is a garage find I have kept my eyes on for two years and it finally went for sale and in my hands.

'86 Pro Series with full 531, campy, modolo etc....

Sorry, thats all it was implied, a tune up.
