1989 Cannondale Black Lightning. Worth?
I was thinking of putting this beauty on the market. '89 I think, basically unridden according to the guy I got it from, and has very little wear. I've ridden it a few times and it is STIFF and fast, unfortunately just a hair too small. Thoughts on price?
Thanks!

Gee, that's a beauty-interested to know myself! Depending on locale/I don't think $300 (+) would be out of the question. How many speeds on it?

A very nice original example.
Touch up the RD with some black paint and put it up on eBay with a BIN of $650.
Be patient. It will sell for that.

This is a very nice example of a Black Lighting which is a very nice lat 80's entry level competion race bike. With the nice matched original black components which look to be 7speed Suntour Accushift Sprint which hold down value a bit. Considering the very nice overall condition I would $500-600 value for a local sale and $650-700 on ebay if your up for doing reasonably priced shipping. I have owned a similar Canondale and really liked the performance but found the tight geomtry and stiffness not to my personnel liking a little much for everyday riding but fine for shorter distance racing, which was what these bikes where intended for. They where intended to be a value priced race bike and they accomplish this very nicely.

Wow, that one for $212 is a shocker. Even needing new nipples and spokes (due to rust and corrosion, so probably other stuff as well), that one looks like it was a good deal. Has I not been in France the last two weeks, I'd have bid on that.

FYI it is not an 1989; look at the rear drop out and compare to: https://www.vintagecannondale.com/year/1989/1989.pdf
I think it is a 1988 (first generation frame and 7 speed Sprint): https://www.vintagecannondale.com/year/1988/1988.pdf

You're right, it is an 1988.
So maybe we were a little conservative on the price, it sold for 650 (plus 140 shipping) on eBay within 6 hours of posting it.
Now we know!
