Help IDing Lemond & Valuation

What do you guys think this is?
Worth it? I'd have to drive an hour there to get it at 15 miles per gallon in my xterra.

Thanks!

My phone crashes when I try to hyper link anything on here.
Edit: I didn't know it would automatically hyperlink it. Sweet!

I don't know. It is probably a good deal. It does look a little rough. Are those flightdeck 9 speed shifters?
Definite signs of use and wear.
Chain?
Seat?
Anyway, I'd say the price is about right. Not a spectacular deal. Not a bad deal. Although, with a little TLC, you might be able to "flip" it for $300 or so.

The last bike parts I picked up about an hour's drive away... I drug my trailer on my bike and made it into a great day-trip of a bit over 100 miles.

What do you mean " What do you guys think this is."? The ad clearly states Lemond Tourmalet. It probably is a 1998, not 100% certain. It was a MSRP $949.00 bike.

You need to make sure it fits. Long top tube there. Also determine what "needs work". If the brifters are shot, the wheels toast, etc. a $150 bike becomes a money pit, not a deal. Check for dents and other potential issues.
If it just needs cleaning, cables and lube, the asking price is a bargain.

Yes. Pre-Trek bikes tend to have a GL on the head tube and are 'Greg Lemond' bicycles. Post Post Trek models are simply 'Lemonds'

Its worth the $150 asking price but no more.

If that's a concern then no, it's not worth it.

If you can fix it yourself, and your plan would be riding it, as long as it isn't an internally rusty flood bike, it would be worth it.

But as a candidate for flipping? Too much money. You would never turn a profit on it at $300 that a working bike could be sold for.

Not a bad starter bike. Like noted, needs a lot of attention. I bet you could get him down to $100.

For a "beater bike", it should clean up quickly.

New Chain.
New Seat
Tires?
Once-Over tune-up.
A bit of soap & water.

Some of the spots visible in the photos may just be dirt & grime.

It is a relatively tall bike. I like taller frames myself, but say a size somewhere between 5'10" and 6'2" or so.

You'd be doing quite well if you get it down to $100, but $150 is reasonable. It sounds like your commute to get it is a bit of a pain, but not bad for a nice Sunday bike ride. How's the weather down south?
